BlackBerry Curve 8900: Help and Support

By now you probably know all there is to know about your device, but if not, we've got you covered with some basic info below.

 

 

Device buttons and key features

Get a little refresher about the different buttons on your device as well as some of its key features.

Reset your device

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloads, ringtones, images, apps, contacts, and Visual Voicemail. It doesn't delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

 

Master reset with settings menu (Software 4.1)

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Scroll to and select the Settings icon.
  3. Scroll to and select the Options icon.
  4. Scroll to and select Security Options.
  5. Scroll to and select General Settings.
  6. Press the Menu key.
  7. Scroll to and select Wipe Handheld.
  8. Scroll to and select Continue.
  9. Enter the word blackberry.
  10. Press the trackball.

 

Master reset with settings menu (Software 5.0)

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Scroll to and select the Settings icon.
  3. Scroll to and select the Options icon.
  4. Scroll to and select Security Options.
  5. Scroll to and select Security Wipe.
  6. Scroll to and select one of the following:
    • E-mail, Contacts, etc.
    • User Installed Applications
    • Media Card
  7. Enter the word blackberry.
  8. Scroll to and select Wipe.

 

Memory and SIM cards

 

SIM card

  1. Slide the release button on the back cover and lift the cover away.

  2. Lift and remove the battery.
  3. Slide the SIM card into the SIM card holder with the gold contacts facing down and the notched corner of the SIM facing out of the slot.

  4. Insert the battery with the gold contacts on the battery facing the gold contacts on the device.

  5. Replace the back cover and snap it into place.

 

Memory card

  1. Slide the release button and remove the back cover.
  2. Hold the memory card so that the metal contacts on the card face down.
  3. Slide the memory card into the memory card slot next to the SIM.
  4. Replace the back cover and click it into place.

 

Network settings

 

Change band

We're sorry, but this is not an available feature on your particular device model.

 

Manual network selection

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Scroll to and select the Settings icon.
  3. Scroll to and select the Options icon.
  4. Scroll to and select Mobile Network.
  5. Scroll to and select Network Selection Mode.
  6. Scroll to and select Manual. The device searches for available networks.
  7. Scroll to and select the desired network.
  8. Select SelectNetwork.
  9. Select OK.

 

Turn on and connect to Wi-Fi

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Scroll to and select the Manage Connections icon.
  3. Scroll to and select Set Up Wi-Fi Network.
  4. Scroll to and select Next.
  5. Select Scan for Networks.
  • Note: If Wi-Fi is off, scroll to and select Turn Wi-Fi on.
  • Note: Many public Wi-Fi networks require a log in. If required, scroll to and select Wi-Fi Hotspot Login. This launches a Web page to log in to the Wi-Fi provider's network.
  1. Scroll to and select the desired network.
  2. If required, enter a key or password.
  3. Scroll to and select Connect.
  4. Scroll to and select Finish
